Taraji P. Henson Compares Jussie Smollett to Emmett Till!

Jussie Smollett’s Empire costar and Academy-Award nominated actress Taraji P. Henson has come out in support of the embattled actor and the fledgling #FreeJussie movement!
On an Instagram post promoting #FreeJussie she wrote:
“I am not here to debate you on his innocence but we can agree that the punishment does not fit the crime.Emmett Till was brutally beat and ultimately murdered because of a lie and none of the people involved with his demise spent one day in jail, even after Carolyn Bryant admitted that her claims were false.”
She then went on to proclaim that Jussie is already in prison because - gasp - he can’t CREATE as an ARTIST!
“An artist not able to create that in itself is punishment enough. He can’t get a job. No one in Hollywood will hire him and again as an artist who loves to create, that is prison. My prayer is that he is freed and put on house arrest and probation because in this case, that would seem fair.”
Oh, Taraji. We love you and there’s something to be said for sticking up for a friend, but to compare Juicy to Emmett Till is just…BEYOND.
Meanwhile, the “gay Tupac” is currently serving out his 150 day sentence in the Psych Ward at Cook County Jail after being deemed ‘at risk for self-harm’, according to an Instagram post by his brother Jocqui.
